What is the payment process for medical costs incurred outside of Australia?
Medical costs incurred outside of Australia can be very expensive. There are only a handful of countries where the Australian Government have arranged reciprocal Medicare agreements.
Those agreements give Australian travellers emergency access to the publicly funded health care system of the reciprocal country. In all other countries the traveller is responsible for the entire cost.
