Federal Government Rebate
The Federal Government Rebate is designed to make private health insurance more affordable.
Anyone who has private health insurance and is eligible for Medicare, can claim the 30% Government Rebate.
The Government also offers a 35% rebate for those aged 65 plus and a 40% rebate for those aged 70 plus.
The rebate is not means tested and can be obtained in one of three ways.
1. As a reduced premium through Navy Health
To apply for the reduced premium you will need to complete a Rebate registration form and lodge it with us.

This is the most popular option amongst our existing members of receiving the rebate.
2. As a tax rebate through your annual taxation assessment
At the end of the financial year, Navy Health will provide you with a statement showing how much you have paid throughout the year and how much you can claim. This information together with instructions provided in Tax Pack is used to complete your annual return. Under this option you continue to pay regular premiums.
3. As a cash refund from Medicare
You can obtain a cash rebate from your local Medicare office. Proof of payment must be provided. Under this option you continue to pay regular premiums.
