In addition to having the appropriate cover, you need to verify that your Natural Therapy provider is registered with the Australian Regional Health Group (ARHG). If your provider is registered with the ARHG, you can rest assured that Navy Health will reimburse your entitlement for the applicable services rendered (up to your annual limit).
Everyday Activities to Better Health
To stay fit and healthy we need to exercise regularly. Research suggests that maintaining an active lifestyle is the key to good health and weight management. You can plan physical activity by doing
things like going to the gym or playing sport. You can also do lots of everyday things to help use those kilojoules and keep you fit. Increasing the amount of everyday exercise in your life can make a big difference. Try to incorporate at least four everyday activities into each day.
The car
Walk to the corner shops instead of driving.
Cycle to work one or two days every week.
Walk to the bus stop or train station, and catch public transport to work.
If taking the bus or tram, get off one stop early and walk the rest of the way.
Park the car a fair distance from the entrance of the shops and walk, rather than parking right out front.
Wash and vacuum the car yourself instead of taking it to a car wash.
In the workplace
Take the stairs instead of the lift.
Use at least half of your lunch break for a brisk walk, even if it is only 10-15 minutes.
Stretch at your desk.
When you need to talk to a colleague, don’t use the phone or internal email - get up from your desk and walk over to them.
If your job involves sitting at a desk all day, make sure you get up and walk around for a few minutes every hour.
At home
You might enjoy the housework a little more if you think about all the kilojoules you’re burning while pushing the vacuum and mop around.
Listen to your favourite music or the radio and dance around the house.
Play actively with your children.
Walk the dog more often, or make your usual walk 10 minutes or so longer.
Get stuck into your garden. Mow, rake leaves and get some planting done.
Incorporate a few more physical activities into your family’s leisure time; for example, you could take the children to the park or kick a ball around the backyard.
Out and about
Ignore the lifts in favour of the stairs.
In shopping centres, take the stairs instead of the escalators.
Walk up the escalators instead of just riding them.

Inter Command Challenge - West
Navy Health was once again proud to be the major sponsor of the Inter Command Challenge - West, held at HMAS Stirling on 24th November 2006. A strong contingent of Navy personnel played a variety of sports including Rugby, Netball, Soccer and Beach Volleyball. A wonderful day was had by all in attendance and the support of Navy Health as the major sponsor, was widely acknowledged and appreciated throughout the event.
Inter Command Challenge – East
In addition to sponsorship in the West, Navy Health was also delighted to support the Inter Command Challenge East in Sydney, on 22 March 2007. Sports played were Rugby, AFL (Men and Women) and Netball. The competitors were presented with a perfect Autumn day and showed plenty of spirit, with the day ending in a dramatic draw with both Fleet Command and Systems Command winning two events each. The support of Navy Health was again much appreciated and we look forward to supporting both events in the coming years.
NAVY Open Day
On Saturday 26 November, 2006, Navy Health attended the Navy Open Day at HMAS Stirling in Western Australia. With beautiful weather, over 16,000 people took the opportunity to gain an insight into the operation of one of Australia’s largest Naval bases. Navy Health supported the event with free balloons for children and provided information to the wider Naval community.
2006 Corporate Games
After improving rapidly in 2005, Navy Health’s basketball team ‘The Undercurrents’ decided to head back to the Corporate Games in November 2006. After some intense pre-games training sessions, the new look team hit the floor full of confidence.
Winning the first two games their confidence grew but unfortunately a narrow loss to eventual finalist VISY meant the finals were just out of reach. The Undercurrents took some solace from winning the final game, making it three wins from four games. The team finished 8th overall in a competition of almost thirty teams. An excellent result and the Undercurrents will try and go one better in 2007 and make the finals.
