About Us

For over 50 years Navy Health has continued to support the wider defence family.

Navy Health began its life in 1955 as the Naval Health Benefits Society to provide for the unique needs of defence personnel and their families.

Membership eligibility criteria has since extended to include others who have provided support to the defence community.

Membership criteria includes serving families of all three arms of the Australian Defence Forces, all ADF Reservists, all civilian contractors that provide services to the ADF and Navy Health, ex-serving members of the ADF and their dependants.

Once a person has established an eligibility to join Navy Health that eligibility stays with them for their lifetime.

Navy Health is a fund belonging to the members. It is not for profit and is registered as a Restricted Membership Organisation.
